In general the monocyte isolation strategy is based upon recognition of surface markers and a lower temp in order to avoid phagocytosis. However, the monocytes can be isolated (along with any remaining granulocytic neutrophils) by simple phagocytosis of beads during an approx. 45 min incubation step followed by separation of the beads/monocytes on the magnet.
